Email me with any questions you may have! We are the Potsdam Harry Potter Alliance. We are a chapter of a national organization that completes community service projects in our community using the teachings of the Harry Potter novels.
We have also recently started partnering with other "fandoms" to try and draw in other fan-bases. Our most recent campaigns were Not in Harry's Name where we sent petitions to Warner Brothers to ask them to stop using fair trade chocolate in their Chocolate Frogs and Hunger is Not a Game where we used the popularity of the Hunger Games movie release to raise food for the local food shelter.
We have a book drive and a Support Our Troops campaign planned for later in the year and are currently working on fundraising for the national organization for equality initiatives marriage, racial, and educational equality for example.
To raise money for our own club because we don't have a budget we are doing Jar Wars! This means that we are collecting change to count as "House Points" towards the "House Cup.
We also table every Thursday from 11 to 2 in the Union! We started to plan our mixer! Email us with any food, games, or other ideas you want to see there!

We took a picture today with those who came to the meeting to send to the HPA. We will have a tally soon for you on how much food we collected.
We are unsure how we are doing on Jar Wars as our lovely treasurer, Katie, had a Crane rehearsal to go to.

We are planning on doing our Accio Books campaign during this because that is what the HPA has planned for us during August and September.
We asked Alex if he would have any ideas on helping us promote it or anybody we could partner with help us with getting it started.
There was also a suggestion that we should try and hand out food, because everybody likes free food! If we can have at least three people at the booth, we can get a food station, so email if you are interested in volunteering.
It counts as an event! This next point is not directed at any person in particular. We have heard rumors that some members of the club are talking about them being "future e-board.
It reflects badly on us as a club. I know that there are a lot of clubs that would like to partner with us.
If you are a part of a club, or know someone that is part of a club and know that they are thinking of partnering with us, we would appreciate it if the e-board of that club would contact us directly.
Again, because we are fully SGA recognized now, we have to do things properly. Remember to come dressed next Thursday for pictures! We would also like to see costumes if they look nice.

Hey All! I have attached the constitution so that you all may have a copy! Along with this, we can keep in mind that there is alot open to us now, and there are many responsibilities.
For anyone who was interested in helping with fliers, we need to remember to include a statement about us being an SGA-recognized club. We also found out that holding Movie Nights are pretty much out of the question.
We may still show A Very Potter Musical in the future. We had no new members this week. This leaves us at 13 including, e-board.
If you know somebody that only needs a meeting or an event, get them to come! We only have 2 meetings and 2 tabling sessions left in the semester!
I feel that we may be able to collect a little bit more food. Bring your non-perishables to tabling on Thursdays! Remember, we only have 2 more sessions left!
Drop off a can, sit down for five minutes and help us promote the club, and you've got an event AND you've helped contribute to someone in need!
Katie announced that we as e-board decided to spend some of the money of the budget. We are informing you because we told you we'd keep you in the loop, but its for a really good surprise, so we are not telling you what for yet!
She also announced that we were asked at the SGA meeting before we got approved if we would want a budget, and we told them that we would like just a small one to help fund our service projects and other events.

The purpose of this pledge was just to raise awareness for the scarcity of food in our world. There are enough resources present on this earth to be able to feed all of its inhabitants, yet there are still people that go hungry simply because they cannot afford to buy food.
If you signed it at the meeting, I have already entered your name! We also discussed Welcome Month to raise awareness for our club to the incoming freshmen.
We are no longer able to do the movie marathon night because of the aforementioned cost of the rights. Instead, we talked about holding a trivia night like we did at BearCon or pushing our campaigns at more tabling sessions.
We also discussed getting involved with Operation Military Support to help send care packages to our troops overseas.

We talked about how we wouldn't hear about our constitution until after break, which worked out perfectly. A couple days ago we received an email from our President Elect that he was able to finish our constitution over break!

The Alliance held a Livestream that talked about partnerships. We introduced the idea of partnering with different groups to help get support for our own campaigns, show our ability to work with others, and get our name to different audiences.

We have 10 of you interested in going to a grocery store to collect more food but only one car, so we are still working out the kinks there.
We held a vote about which grocery store to go to and Walmart won. We send a warm thank you to those that came to the movie night.
It went very well! Pictures will be posted on the website as soon as I get them uploaded on my computer! The Alliance wants us to move onto a "Wizard Rock the Vote" campaign.
We voted that we do not want to do this with them because our campus has already held elections and we would rather devote the time to extending our HINAG campaign to try and collect some more food.
Instead, we are going to start planning a "Support Our Troops" campaign to raise supplies for care-packages to send over seas. We need a cool Harry Potter related name to go with the campaign, so any ideas are welcome!
We will be opening our next semester with a book drive, called Accio Books! We discussed collecting books either for hometowns, for other countries, or for local areas.
Talk to libraries and schools in your hometown to see if there is a need for books. The 15 minute play at the Spring Arts Festival will be held after Springfest.
We still have an open invitation to come table and they are willing to give us a plug if we go. Email if you are interested! Next semester, we will be switching meeting times to every week to try and keep things consistent and make us more accessible.
We will not be holding elections this semester because everything is still getting established, but we will be establishing a Leadership Committee.
This will be an elected group of people who will "shadow" the e-board to learn how to perform the duties.
This group will not guarantee an e-board position but will make it easier to get elected and will teach you everything you need to know about running e-board.

We welcomed more new members! We are currently up to 6! Helps us break ten and come to tabling and other events! We have a few members that only need to come to an event to reach full member status!

We were promised that it would be done by the end of the semester. We are going to change the membership requirements to two meetings instead of two consecutive meetings.

We kicked off the Hunger is Not a Game campaign! We are collecting for the Neighborhood Center! Ask everyone you know and bring your non-perishable foods to meeting!
We will also be tabling every Thursday and occasionally on Wednesdays, so look for us in the Union with a collection bin! They are also looking for items like peanut butter, jelly, and milk cards so that they can provide lunches for children over the summer.

I went home over the weekend and grabbed the wrong red folder, so I did not have my notes. We had a very productive night. We are on our way to have our constitution ratified and become a fully recognized, SGA approved club.
We won't have a budget for another year, so be sure that you keep that in mind when suggesting events and fundraisers for us to do.
We can put in a request for funds to SGA, but we need sufficient time to argue our case, so plan ahead and suggest it to us early for anything big you might want to do!
