So he takes him on a trip to Camden, New Jersey, where Rocky Balboa sets small rodents loose inside a pet store and tells Lil' "if you can catch chinchilla you can roll your Rrrrrs He looks A ring of first-graders forms around them, some vaccinated, some not, and the fight is on.
Three jabs, a cross, and two hooks later, "El Charrito is lying on his back looking up at Lil' who is standing akimbo, all superhero-like, and tells him: "Eh loco, we were only playing, we'll leave you alone now", to which Lil' replies, "My name is Rrrrrrocky!
Credits roll In other words, this movie is a last-ditch effort to resurrect a genre that long ago exhausted every penny in its drama coffers. I was almost tempted to say it's Sci-Fi bad, but that would be a disservice to Sci-Fi, whose Sharknado movie is a masterpiece compared to this.
At least it had the sense not to take itself seriously. Creed 2 is predictable, badly edited, flat, and acted atrociously.
It seems not even the actors could find enough depth to get in character, they had that vacant look in their eyes most commonly associated with those who know they've made a mistake but signed a contract and now must go through with it.
Wait a little bit and watch it for free, they'll play it on Comedy central soon enough. Big fan of all the old Rocky movies and also liked the first Creed.
This movie however sucks felt was written in a rush just to cash in on the name. A lot of boring parts that drag on the fight scenes were so digitally animated it looked stupid.
The desert scene was a joke yeah a bunch of no name steroid using boxers could take on a world champ. I have mixed feelings about Creed II.
In it's own right, it's not a bad film. But when looking at this film in the context of the Rocky film series, it didn't do it for me. First, the positives.
Casting and acting Michael B. Jordan is a really good actor in general. There are moments when he strongly reminds me of Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed and I'm sure this is totally intentional.
Apollo had a old school swagger that was iconic for his era and Carl Weathers displayed that swagger masterfully in Rocky also see: Jim Kelly in Enter the Dragon as another example or even Carl Weathers in his bit part in episode 1 of The Mandalorian.
Adonis has a bit of it in him except, modernized which obviously makes total sense due to the context. It's just that Michael B. Jordan captured that really well.
It's an example to attention to detail that a some actors simply don't capture well. Tessa Thompson Bianca with Michael B.
Jordan are a great on-screen pairing and a believable couple. I'm a bit biased though because I've always been a huge fan of strong displays of Black love.
This liking is made even easier when Adonis Creed's mom is Phylicia Rashad. She's is a fantastic actress today as she was over 30 years ago on Cosby the scene at the dining room table and the baby prediction is fantastic.
She actually looks almost exactly the same too. Silvester Stallone is still classic Stallone. You have to feel for Rocky considering his journey as he has truly become Mick at this point bringing the story full circle.
Yes, although the film is called Creed, it still has the unmistakable mark of Rocky all over it. I've seen Dolph Lundgren in many other films over the years and he never really fit in any of them.
But he does a good job in Creed II mainly because he's allowed to actually act a bit more with a more grounded role than in the other films I've seen him in over the last couple of years.
It's not a major role but it is relevant. Context matters and seeing Florian Mountenau as the son of Ivan Drago is believable as well.

Every film follows the same format except 5 but we don't talk about 5. I enjoy a good training montage - however it was hard going basically watching the same film over and over again.
My favourite was Rocky 4 and Balboa However the newer ones are pretty good. A good way to keep the films going.
Missed opportunity. Enjoyed he film but I think they missed an opportunity to make a really great film. It had some heart warming scenes , but the modern music was beyond terrible , I don't know why Stallone allowed such a terrible empty emotionless modern RNB soundtrack in such an awesome iconic franchise.
I think they could of developed the story more with Ivan Drago. It kind of left the Ivan Drago and Rockys rivalry unresolved as well as Apollo creed sons bitterness at Drago for killing his dad.
It finished a bit sudden and disappointing and I feel they could of included something at the end to resolve things.
Apparently this was all filmed but left out of the movie on the cutting room floor , that's a shame they didn't include it because it's just at an ok movie without it , not a great movie.
It's a missed opportunity. A good addition to the Rocky saga. This new chapter follows the son of Rocky's adverseray-turned-best-buddy Apollo Creed as he carves out his own name and identity as a boxer.
Director Ryan Coogler knows his stuff and produces a great movie that both acknowledges the Rocky lineage and says something new.
Michael B Jordan gives a great star making turn as Adonis Creed. And of course there's the man himself - Stallone - as Rocky Balboa, giving a touching and heartfelt performance that deserved the Oscar, dammit!
Overall a little bit long at two and a bit hours, but Coogler drives a good story and fills it with real emotion and a rousing final fight.
But it's the final scene at Philadelphia's Museum of Art that really packs the punch. Creed finds a really good balance between the original Rocky series and films of the more modern era.
This film can both stand on its own, or be great for us die hards of all the Rocky films. Must be good as I was blubbering away at the end, as I've done in all the Rockys.
I liked the continuity of actors and the sting relationships, keeps it real and you find yourself thinking you actually know these families.
Well Acted. The film is a really good starting point to carry on an already solid saga.

This makes the film incredibly predictable. Creed II is totally film making-by-numbers. Adonis wins the belt becoming champion, fights Viktor and gets his behind spanked but keeps the belt because Viktor is disqualified for a late hit ala Roy Jones Jr.
With the help of Rocky, Adonis adopts a brutal training regiment, flies to Russia and beats Viktor Drago. The End. This leads to the other problems I have with Creed II.
Lack of emotional impact and the pacing isn't good at all. For example, in Rocky IV one of the best in the series , the pacing and storytelling are excellent.
When Apollo dies, the director takes time to show Rocky reflect on this with his night time drive in his car.
It was very powerful and very memorable even after 30 years. The training sequence in Siberia of all places is still one of the greatest training montages I've ever seen, ending with Rocky on a mountain top yelling Drago's name.
THAT'S impact and clearly illustrates the iron will of the character. A man on a mission that won't be denied to avenge the death of his friend.
There isn't anything in Creed II that has the same level of emotional impact and the pacing sucks. Example, Adonis trains in the desert to prepare for the rematch with Viktor but immediately cuts to him in Russia.
No good establishing shot, no sequence to show Adonis, Bianca and Rocky flying to Russia or getting off the plane, not even a sequence or conversation between Adonis and Rocky about how he feels about going back to Russia all things considered.
The edit to Russia is done in such an abrupt way that it's not initially clear if Bianca is even there with Adonis. This and other abrupt edits makes Creed II feel, average, insignificant.
A film just going through the motions trying to hurry up and get to its predictable conclusion. As good as some of the boxing is, it wasn't even clear which round both fights ended in.
Even when Adonis wins the championship, it was treated as irrelevant by Adonis and the director. No fanfare, no celebration, no massive news coverage.
Just, I have the belt, let's get a cheesesteak. I'm not joking, that actually happens. After Rocky fought Apollo in the original film, the media frenzy was nuts in the ring with Apollo saying "ain't gonna be no rematch" and Rocky saying "Don't want one.
It's one of the greatest endings in American cinematic history. At the end of Rocky IV, Rocky gives a great speech that was a powerful political statement about the US and Russia as global adversaries and the need to change.
That was in In , Creed II gives us, Let go home and get a cheesesteak. I'll stop there because this review is already long enough but Creed II feels like a film that wasted a lot of talent on a story line that should have focused on something new as opposed to retreading old ground.
I watched this movie on Amazon Prime. I have always been a Rocky fan and I actually watched all the others in the series at the theatre.
I believe the reason I enjoyed this film was because it was so much like Rocky IV. Story line was very close even to the extent of having a lot of the same characters.

Adonis Creed Michael B Jordon has since a defeat some three years back won a string of fights which leads him to have a shot at the WBC Title, which he wins, with the continued guidance of Rocky With his achievement secured and security assured Adonis finally proposes to long-term partner Bianca Tess Thomson she accepts.
Meanwhile, a challenge to Adonis's title emerges from Russia, the former fighter Ivan Drago's Dolph Lundgren who had killed Adonis's father Appolo in the ring some 33 years ago is seeking to regain lost glory with his son Viktor Florian Muntean a prospectively brutal opponent, if accepted by Adonis it would be billed as a rematch of the famous fight.
Adonis is keen to accept, however, Rocky doesn't see it as the right move for his fighter and walks away when Adonis is determined to go ahead.
The fight is a disaster for Adonis, he is left badly injured, however, keeps his belt because Victor had thrown an illegal punch.
It will take Adonis a long time to recover, meanwhile, he and Bianca have their first child. The taunts from Moscow grow louder, Ivan wants his son to claim the crown with a re-match in Moscow, time has passed, if Adonis doesn't defend the title he'll be stripped of it.
Rocky will again become the boxer's right-hand and will prepare Adonis for a battle. Will Adonis prevail? A superb if but predictable sequel and indeed addition to the Rocky franchise.
A little slow perhaps at times, however the fight sequences more than make up for any shortcomings the film may have. Certainly a must for Rocky fans.
Footnote - If you have access to network T. A good movie, and a great ending to the Rocky saga. Thing come full circle. This is an emotional, motavational and heart warming movie.
The down sides to this movie are that is does come off as mixed elements of Rocky 2, 3, 4 and 5 all in the same movie making it feel a bit rushed.
Also I am not a fan of the more hip hop soundtrack rather then the rock of the other movies. The fight and training the human spirit rising above all challenges, that made the other movies great is here as well, making this a great edition and ending if that is the case.
Adonis Creed and his trainer Rocky Balboa are back in what is effectively Rocky 8. As ever, there are lots of continuity links, most favouritably to Rocky VI which happens to be my favourite.
Stallone co-wrote and produced the film as well as repising Rocky and there are many other reappearing cast members including His ex-wife..
This ranks up there amongst the best and most brutal of the franchise. I remember Rock 4 a great film the only fault was his political statement at the end of the film, glad there was no political statement at the end of this movie.
I didn't think we would ever ess Rocky again after his sixth film but here weare two movies later seeing him. I really enjoyed this movie and I also liked Creed l so we just have to wait to see if there is a third.
A great addition to the collection a lot better then I thought the film would be and great that it was madea moreofa boxing movie not producing political issues which I thought spoilt Rocky 4 which was a great movie and to see Drago return with a son to fight Apollo Creed son was great.
